BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS – Hurricane Update

 

MESSAGE FROM JTC

Thank you for your continued support after Hurricane Maria last week. We were relieved that she didn’t make a direct hit on the BVI and skirted slightly south of the island, but our thoughts are with the people of Puerto Rico who were directly hit and are in a period of intense recovery.

Our staff remain our priority and we are pleased to confirm that all employees and their families are safe and secure. Two employees are now based in our Cayman office, helping to keep the business running. Meanwhile we continue to work on securing the infrastructure in the BVI, and hope to be up and running from there shortly.

The BVI has made significant progress in keeping business running successfully since the hurricanes. This includes:

  • The BVI online registry VIRRGIN system is fully operational
  • The BVI Beneficial Ownership register is fully operational
  • The BVI Gazette, where notices of liquidations are published, will hopefully be up and running next week
  • Several banks in the island are open, albeit operating a reduced service, but are open nonetheless

All of these steps are helping to restore services in the islands and ensure our successful recovery. We are fortunate that our systems allow us to operate from anywhere in the world, which ensures uninterrupted service to our clients.

JTC remains committed to the BVI to ensure the territory recovers, and we are determined to continue to deliver excellent service despite the challenging circumstances. We will continue to provide ongoing updates as the situation improves, and thank you again for your support and continued patience.
